New Hampshire Rehabilitation Association's Annual Awards
Rehabilitant of the Year
A consumer with a disability who has achieved personal and vocational success. This award may be presented to an individual who has demonstrated a commitment to achieving personal independence through determinations and perseverance, and is a contributing member of his/her community. Those eligible for the aware are individuals who have benefited from rehabilitation services.
Employer of the Year
An employer who has demonstrated exemplary practices in providing equal employment opportunities to severely disabled people. This aware may be presented to a business which has shown unusual initiative or creativity in removing attitudinal and environmental barriers in order to facilitate employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.
Professional of the Year
Technical or professional achievement in the field of rehabilitation. The presentation of this award should be made to an individual whose advocacy, technical expertise, and creativity has had a significant impact on the lives of persons with disabilities. This person should have a demonstrated commitment to the field of rehabilitation.
Medical Rehabilitation of the Year
A medical professional who has demonstrated commitment to the field of rehabilitation. This award is presented to a medical professional that consistently provides outstanding service and caring for injured or disabled people, assisting them with recovery from illness or injury, and facilitating restoration to achieve a functional and productive lifestyle. Examples of potential candidates would include physicians, nurses, occupational health nurses, medical case managers, physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapist.
Disabled Veteran of the Year
A disabled veteran who has achieved personal and vocational success. This award may be presented to a veteran who has demonstrated a commitment to achieving personal independence through determination and perseverance, and is a contributing member of his/her community. Those eligible for the award are individuals who have benefited from rehabilitation services.
Public Service Award
An organization or individual who has demonstrated leadership in improving rehabilitation services in New Hampshire. Presentation of this award should be made to organizations or individuals who have influenced legislation, public policy or community awareness through advocacy, leadership and dedication to improving the lives of persons with disabilities. Examples of potential candidates for this award would include members of the Legislature, agencies, public officials or private citizens.
The Frank J. Loughran Lifetime Achievement Award
This award was established in 1992 in honor of Frank J. Loughran, past president and active member of the New Hampshire State Chapter of NRA. This award places emphasis on both length and type of service, and is to be given to persons demonstrating outstanding service or leadership for a minimum of ten years. The services may be of a direct or indirect nature. Outstanding clinicians, administrators, and other persons within the rehabilitation field, broadly defined are eligible for this award.
